Refinishing-Prep High School Transition Program (HS)

ACE-IT (Accelerated Credit Enrolment In Industry Training)

 

This program is designed as a transition to industry training for secondary high school students. Grade 12 students come to VCC and take the Automotive Refinishing-Prep Program. They earn high school credits and a valuable VCC certificate at the same time. Students also earn credit toward their apprenticeship, putting them on a fast track to their career certification and a well paying secure job.
 
The five-month program offers training in a wide range of skills appropriate to today's advanced automobile refinishing-prep industry. The program features modern equipment and techniques in a state of the art facility.

About The Program:

  • Students will gain the tangible skills required to gain and retain entry level employment in the collision repair industry.
  • Graduates receive an industry-respected VCC certificate and possible credited time towards apprenticeship to complete the Trade Qualification (TQ).
  • Students gain as many as 20 secondary high school credits.

Time Well Used:

  • Students attend VCC's Broadway Campus for four months.
  • Two training days at ICBC's Material Damage Research and Training Centre.
  • Four weeks is spent in a sponsoring collision repair facility for work experience.
  • Students will access parts of the program via the internet for online training.

Application Procedure:
Candidates for this program are selected through a screening process by their respective school district. For more information, contact a representative in your school district or the VCC Collision Repair Department.

Applicants must have graduated from an appropriate career preparation program or meet the English and Math requirements at VCC.  ...more
